provided include;
Food at main oasis: Okay, so

these photos, however, they will be
just as fresh!! Breakfast and lunch
every day at the major tents that
will mainly consists of hot oatmeal,
pancakes, coffee and juice for
breakfast and baked potatoes, soup,
peanut butter and jelly or
turkey/cheese sandwiches on whole
wheat bread and a whole lot of other
specials specially ordered by our
staffed nutricionist. Refreshments,
sports drinks, water, fruit,
assorted cookies and others will
also be available. Food will not be
available to individual support
crews.
Food at smaller oasis: Oasis
located at every 25-35 miles will be
packed with fruit, water, sports
drinks, refreshments, cookies,
pretzels and other goodies that will
prevent you from zapping out of
energy!!
Support and Gear Vehicles (SAG):
You should come to the tour
physically, mentally and emotionally
prepared to ride the entire route on
your bike. Support vehicles will
roam the route and are available for
emergency use only. Mechanical
assistance will be courtesy of a
local cycling store which will be
announced as the event approaches.
The rider may rejoin the ride in the
next oasis if he/she has repaired
the mechanical malfunction. Riders
who withdraw from the LCT will be
offered transportation to Ponce on
Day I, Mayaguez on Day II or back to
San Juan on Day III. Other
alternatives of transportation will
not be available which means that
the rider will be responsible for
finding their own transportation
back to the start/finish area in Old
San Juan. (see Taxi information in
this website)
Mechanical Support: Our
friends from a local cycling store
will provide experienced mechanics
(and additional support personnel)
that will follow the route every day
in several support vehicles to take
care of mechanical emergencies. This
staff will also be available each
evening at the LCTHQ Hotel. The
mechanic vehicles will carry a
supply of wheels, tires, tubes ($5
each) and spare parts, but you
should come prepared with at least
two spare tubes to fit your tires
and a pump or CO2 cartridges.
Services are included in the fee for
light mechanical work (adjustments,
etc). Other parts and services are
sold on a cash (US$$) only basis.
Bag Drop Off - Luggage Transport:
The luggage only vehicle will
leapfrog your bag to the next
Lighthouse Cycling Tour Headquarter
Hotel (LCTHQ Hotel) or hotels listed
in this page. When packing, keep in
mind that you must be able to carry
your bag to and from the luggage
truck. Please pack as lightly as
possible, and keep your total
luggage weight under 40 pounds. If
your bag is not waterproof, we
recommend protecting your gear with
plastic bags in order to keep it dry
in case of rain. Because you will
not have access to the luggage truck
during the day, you will need to
carry such items as raingear,
camera, snacks, and anything else
you might want during your ride.
Bags will be picked up and
transported to the finish line by
4:00pm Sunday in front of the
closing ceremony area. BAG DROP OFF
POLICY: It is the absolute
responsibility of the participant to
label his/her bag with his/her full
name and hotel destinations. Bags
will ONLY be dropped off in the
hotels listed in this website. In
the event that a bag is not labeled
with his/her owners name, the
participant will be responsible of
picking up said bag in the LCTHQ
hotel listed in this website. Our
staff has been specifically
instructed NOT to provide individual
bags deliveries to those failing to
comply with this policy.
Bike Cases: For those
traveling from abroad, hard-plastic
bike cases, cardboard bike boxes,
and other packing materials should
be stored at your hotel in Old San
Juan. You need to make arrangements
for this prior to arrival with the
front desk staff of your hotel which
may or may not choose to charge a
nominal fee for this service. As
part of the arrangements that we are
making with the Old San Juan Hotel,
we are requesting that they have a
bike box storage area available for
those that check in to their hotels,
however, not all hotels will have
this area available. It is the
responsibility of the participant to
make this arrangement. LCT will not
store, transport or handle bike
boxes given that our space is
limited.
Private support vehicles: Alternate
route sheets will be provided to all
individual support crews in order to
avoid congestion along the route
especially in narrow countryside
roads. All private support vehicles
are kindly requested that they
follow alternate main roads and leap
frog from one oasis to another in
advance of their family member.
Those who choose to follow riders
along the route are kindly asked to
stay behind the last rider.
Hotels:
A list of hotels within Old San
Juan, Ponce and Mayaguez has been
included in this website with the
contact phone number and additional
information. Please make reference
to the San Juan Cycling Club group
in order to take advantage of
discounted packages for the group in
some of the participating hotels.
Route Sheets: All
participants upon arrival the day of
the event will receive a hard copy
of the cue sheet (and map) for the
entire three day route. Our cue
sheets, prepared in brevet format,
guarantee that the most novice of
riders will arrive from point A to
point B without much of a fuss.
Electronic versions of the cue sheet
and maps will also be forwarded to
all participants prior to the start
of the event.
Course Markings: The route
will NOT be marked by SJCC. In lieu,
we will have detailed cue sheets and
maps that will guarantee arrival to
the finish line each day.
